The Challenge

Tire24 launched as a new digital-first brand under the umbrella of a tire retailer with over 30 years of offline expertise. While the parent company had decades of trust and customer relationships built through physical retail, Tire24 needed to capture that credibility and translate it into an online tire sales platform from scratch. The challenge was bringing tire shopping—a traditionally hands-on, in-person purchase—into the digital realm without losing the personal service and expertise customers expected. Tire buyers have specific needs: finding the right size, understanding seasonal requirements, comparing brands, and trusting they're getting quality products at fair prices. The e-commerce platform needed to simplify tire selection for customers who might not be automotive experts while maintaining the professional credibility and trustworthiness of a 30-year-old business. This wasn't just building an online store—it was establishing a new brand that could compete with established tire e-commerce giants while leveraging decades of offline industry knowledge.

Our Role

We handled this project, managing every aspect of the e-commerce platform. This included designing the complete user experience and interface, developing the WordPress site from scratch, configuring and customizing WooCommerce for tire-specific product management, creating product catalog structures, implementing payment and shipping integrations, and launching the platform to production.

The Approach

Our strategy focused on making tire shopping feel simple and trustworthy rather than overwhelming or technical. The goal was to build an e-commerce experience that feels as reliable and straightforward as walking into a physical tire shop with knowledgeable staff—but with the convenience of online browsing and purchasing. We prioritized intuitive product filtering (tire size, vehicle type, season), clear product information that doesn't require automotive expertise to understand, and a streamlined checkout process. The design needed to communicate professionalism and trust while remaining visually clean and modern. Every interaction should reinforce that Tire24 carries the same expertise and quality as its 30-year parent brand.

Discovery & Research

We began by analyzing competitor tire e-commerce platforms and understanding the unique challenges of selling tires online. Through stakeholder discussions with Tire24's parent company, we learned about customer pain points from three decades of retail: customers often don't know their exact tire size, they're confused by technical specifications, they want reassurance they're buying quality products, and they need clear guidance on seasonal tire requirements. We researched tire buying behavior and discovered that most customers approach tire shopping with anxiety—they know tires are critical for safety but feel overwhelmed by options and technical jargon. The key insight: the platform shouldn't just be a product catalog—it should be a guided experience that helps customers make confident decisions without requiring them to become tire experts.

Design & Development

We designed the user experience around simplifying tire discovery and selection. The homepage immediately guides customers through finding their tires—either by vehicle make/model or by tire size—eliminating the confusion of browsing hundreds of incompatible products. We created intuitive filtering systems that let customers narrow down options by season (summer, winter, all-season), brand, price range, and performance characteristics without overwhelming them with technical specifications. Product pages balance detailed information for knowledgeable buyers with clear, simple explanations for everyone else—highlighting key features like wet grip, fuel efficiency, and noise levels using visual ratings instead of complex data. We built the platform on WordPress with WooCommerce, customizing the product catalog structure specifically for tire inventory management. This included creating custom fields for tire specifications (size, load index, speed rating), implementing dynamic product filtering, and configuring shipping logic that accounts for tire weight and regional delivery. The checkout process was streamlined to reduce friction—clear shipping options, multiple payment methods, and order confirmation flows that build confidence. We developed a clean, modern visual design that communicates professionalism and trust while remaining approachable. The interface needed to work perfectly across desktop and mobile since many customers research tires on their phones while standing in parking lots checking tire sizes.

Final Design

The final Tire24 e-commerce platform delivers a streamlined online tire shopping experience that bridges 30 years of offline expertise with modern digital convenience. Customers can quickly find the right tires for their vehicle, understand product differences without technical confusion, and complete purchases with confidence—all through an interface that feels as trustworthy and professional as the decades-old brand behind it.

Results & Outcomes

The Tire24 platform successfully launched the brand's digital presence, establishing a professional e-commerce channel that extends three decades of offline tire retail expertise into online sales. The platform enables customers to shop for tires with the same confidence and trust they'd experience in a physical store, now accessible 24/7 from any device.

What We Learned

This project reinforced that successful e-commerce isn't just about building an online catalog—it's about translating offline trust and expertise into digital experiences. Tire24's biggest asset wasn't their product inventory; it was 30 years of customer relationships and industry knowledge. The platform needed to communicate that expertise through design, not just state it in marketing copy. We learned that reducing cognitive load is critical in product categories where customers feel anxious or overwhelmed—every filter, label, and product description should reduce uncertainty rather than add complexity. The most challenging aspect was balancing comprehensive product information (for customers who want technical details) with simplified guidance (for customers who just want the right tire without becoming experts). If we were to approach this again, we'd invest more time early in understanding customer tire-buying journeys through user interviews—several UX decisions were based on assumptions that could have been validated with actual customer behavior data. This experience shaped how we think about e-commerce for traditionally offline businesses: your website isn't competing with other websites—it's competing with the in-person experience customers are accustomed to, and it needs to deliver equivalent trust and guidance through pixels instead of people.
