The Challenge

Tire24 needed a brand identity that would differentiate them in the crowded automotive tire retail market. Most tire shops look identical—generic storefronts with dated signage and forgettable logos that blend into the strip mall landscape. For a business trying to build customer loyalty and compete against massive chains, their visual identity needed to communicate professionalism, reliability, and modern service. The existing branding was virtually nonexistent, leaving them indistinguishable from dozens of competitors offering the same products at similar prices.

Our Role

We handled this project, delivering a complete brand identity from concept to final assets. This included designing the primary logo mark, developing the wordmark typography, creating multiple logo variations for different contexts, establishing the color palette, and producing comprehensive brand guidelines for consistent application across signage, uniforms, marketing materials, and digital platforms.

The Approach

Our strategy focused on creating a brand that feels approachable yet professional—tire retail is fundamentally a local service business where customers need to trust the people working on their vehicles. We avoided the overly aggressive automotive aesthetics common in the industry, instead opting for clean, minimalist design that conveys competence and reliability. The visual language needed to work equally well on a roadside sign, a business card, and a website, so scalability and versatility were critical from the start.

Discovery & Research

We started by analyzing competitor branding in the tire retail space, noting that most brands fall into one of two camps: overly aggressive (flame motifs, racing stripes, bold italics) or completely generic (basic sans-serif text with a tire graphic). We interviewed the Tire24 team to understand their customer base—primarily local drivers looking for reliable service, fair pricing, and trustworthy technicians. The insight was clear: customers don't want flashy, they want dependable. We researched successful local service brands outside the automotive sector to understand how businesses build trust through visual identity when competing against larger chains.

Design & Development

We explored dozens of logo concepts, ultimately landing on a clean, geometric mark that subtly references a tire while remaining abstract enough to feel modern and distinctive. The wordmark uses a custom-modified sans-serif typeface that balances professionalism with approachability—it's confident without being aggressive. The color palette went through multiple iterations before settling on a deep navy blue paired with vibrant orange accents. Navy conveys trust and reliability, while orange adds energy and visibility without feeling cheap. We developed comprehensive logo lockups (horizontal, vertical, icon-only, reversed) to ensure the brand works across every touchpoint—from massive outdoor signage to tiny social media avatars. The brand guidelines include precise color specifications, typography rules, spacing requirements, and usage examples to maintain consistency even when applied by non-designers.

Final Design

The final brand identity combines a distinctive geometric logo mark with a clean, professional wordmark and strategic color palette. The navy blue and orange color system creates strong visual recognition while avoiding the clichéd automotive aesthetics that dominate the industry. The result is a cohesive brand that positions Tire24 as the modern, trustworthy alternative to generic tire shops—professional enough to inspire confidence, approachable enough to feel like your neighborhood service provider.

What We Learned

This project reinforced that restraint is often more powerful than complexity in branding, especially for local service businesses. Our initial instinct was to incorporate more automotive visual language, but testing revealed that customers respond better to clean, professional design over industry clichés. The biggest challenge was creating something distinctive without being trendy—tire retail isn't a fast-moving industry, so the brand needs to feel timeless, not tied to 2025 design trends. If we were approaching this again, we'd spend more time upfront understanding how the brand will be applied by non-designers in real-world scenarios like print shop orders and uniform embroidery—some early logo concepts would have been production nightmares. This experience shaped how we think about practical brand implementation for small businesses with limited design resources.
